Establishing reference photograph of a place: Low-angle wide shot from ground level, 24mm: a massive rusted iron gate, closed, with thick, jagged, pitted bars and spiked tips dripping water. Beside it rises a weathered grey stone pillar, salt-stained and wet. Beyond it, a muddy winding drive leads to a clifftop gothic mansion silhouetted against a dark, churning storm sky. Heavy rain falls vertically, wind-lashed, splashing in the mud. Blue-white lightning flashes illuminate desaturated greys, deep blues and blacks. Photorealistic, 35mm film look, shallow depth of field, ominous gothic mood.
